The Story — Thirty years of asking: isn't there a better way?

In the early 1990s, Peter Crawley was working in the communications and networking divisions of Citibank and Barclays in London, helping establish trading floors and navigating the trader 'Big Bang' (the 1986 deregulation that transformed London's financial markets and triggered a wave of new technology across the City). From the inside, he watched the same thing happen on every project: cabling pulled by hand, hard-wired to a specific layout, then ripped out the moment the floor was reconfigured. The cycle repeated every time the business changed—which, on a trading floor, was constantly.

Once technology took hold there was no holding it back — but the infrastructure that carried it needed to evolve to keep pace. The frustration crystallised into a question Peter couldn't put down.

Isn't there a better way?

In the mid-1990s, that question earned him a seat at a UK-based industry think tank—a group brainstorming the first generation of modular, prefabricated cabling. He spent the next five years pioneering and implementing those Gen 1 systems across the UK and Europe — and what those years taught him went beyond the product itself. The design discipline had to start upstream, not on site. The planning had to be sequenced for the realities of how construction projects actually run. The installation had to be predictable; the documentation had to last for the building's operational life. Those lessons—what made prefabrication deliver, and what made it falter—shaped everything that came next.

In 2005, Peter brought the idea to Canada. The country had its own appetite for digital infrastructure but no domestic answer for prefabricated cabling. What started as a design and technology integrator gradually evolved into something more ambitious: a Canadian designer and manufacturer of prefabricated data cabling systems, built on three decades of asking the same question—and learning the answer one project at a time.
